Tree Tomato Cyphomandra betacea

    

Tamarillo  A beautiful, fast growing shrub that if allowed can grow up to five feet indoors. Beautiful foliage becomes a backdrop to fragrant, pink flower clusters followed by red, egg-shaped fruit that taste much like a tomato. Flowers are self pollinating and the plant can bear fruit within the first year!  An excellent container plant!

 Sowing instructions:

  • Soak in warm water for 24 hours

  • Sow seed 3/4” deep at a soil temperature of  55-64° F and keep moist

  • Sow in standard good draining potting mix

Plant Care:

  • Grow in a standard potting mix

  • Place in bright filtered light

  • Likes a deep, rich well fertilized soil

  • Keep moist and feed once a month

  • Transplant when large enough to handle into pots

  •  Keep humid if in dry conditions by occasional misting

  • Keep plant above 50° F

  • Do not allow to remain in standing water
