Tomato Roma

  

 Roma  - There isn't a more perfect paste tomato.  It has all the attributes that make it perfect for sauce and canning. I even like to slice a few in salads.  Its the ultimate mid season tomato.  Perfect flavor, perfect pear shaped 3" size, beautiful rich red. Plants grow on vigorous determinate vines. This old heirloom has few seeds insides which makes Roma the one to pick for canning. A generous mid-season crop that can produce up to 200 tomatoes per vine!  Fusarium and verticilium wilt resistant.

Sowing instructions:

 Start indoors in a good draining potting mix indoors 8 weeks before planting outside. Germination results in 6-12 days at a soil temperature of 70-90 degrees F.  Soil temperature should be at least 60-70 degrees F when planting outdoors.

Plant Care: Harden off and set out after all danger of frost is past in a nice sunny spot.  For the biggest yields place plants in raised composted beds.  Water regularly. After harvest cure in the sun for several days

Growing Tips:

  • Keep plants well watered
  • Maximize production by harvesting fruits regularly
  • Seed can be sown indoors 8 weeks before last frost date
  • Sow outdoors after last frost and when soil temperature reaches at least 65°

  • Enjoy freshly sliced or in salads, canned or made into a sauce.
