Samanea saman

Rain Tree - Monkey Pod Tree -  Native to Brazil, this plant is widely cultivated as an ornamental. It has fern like leaves that close up on cloudy days to let the rain fall through. When grown indoors the leaves close up at night.  The flowers are pink puffs and bloom in cycles but most heavily in late spring through summer. Sow seed in standard potting mix.  Grow in full light, water regularly and feed once a month. Roots stay close to the soil surface making it a great bonsai tree!    Item # rsd - 64
