Mahogany

  Swietenia mahogani This tree produces the beautiful red wood used in the furniture industry. Dark lustrous green leaves are an attractive backdrop to small white flowers. Emerald colored fruit grow 4” in diameter.  A perfect showpiece! 

 Sow seed in standard potting mix and grow in full sun. Fertilize once a month. Grows outdoors in zone 10 and 11 or as a houseplant. Leaves turn yellow and drop in fall. This tree is a threatened species in its native habitat.         Item # rsd - 40

Sowing instructions: Soak seed overnight. Sow seed at 65-68 degrees F in standard good draining potting mix. 

Plant Care: Grow in a standard potting mix.  Water  moderately and feed once a month. Transplant when large enough to handle into pots. Grow in full light, water freely during growing season, sparingly in winter and feed once a month with a liquid fertilizer. Keep humid if in dry conditions by occasional misting. Shade from hot sun if grown outdoors
