Passiflora quadrangularis

   Passion Melon This plant is grown widely in the tropics just for its fruit.  This climber has winged stems and oval leaves.  The fruit is oblong and grows to about 6” with a yellow-green color.  The exotic flowers are 4” and fragrant with a purple-red color.  Great for trellis culture.  Minimum temperature 55 degrees F. 

Sowing instructions: Soak seed overnight. Sow seed at 55-64 degrees F in standard good draining potting mix.  Germination may take up to 6 months bu the wait is worth it. Grow in full light, water freely during growing season, sparingly in winter and feed once a month. 

Plant Care: Transplant when large enough to handle into pots. Either train up strings or plant in a hanging pot and let them flourish. Keep humid if in dry conditions by occasional misting.
