Zebra Banana

Musa zebrina - This is the most unusual plant belonging to the banana family.  It can grow up to 6’ with a slim trunk but usually stays around 3-5 feet.  The leaves are long and sheer with a blue-green hue and intense variegation of blood red. The middle rib of the leaf is brown-red.  Its a fast growing, clump forming evergreen reaching about 6-8 ft. tall. Perfect for container growing or give your place a tropical look by planting near ponds or swimming pools.

Although not necessarily a fruit bearing plant it may even produce clumps of small, sweet, edible bananas.

Pre-soak seed and sow at 70-75° F.  Place in a propagator or warm place, and keep at a constant temperature. Grow plants in full light and shade from hot suns.  Water freely during growing season and keep moist in winter. Feed once a month.   Item # rsd - 90
