Panama Hat Palm

 

Carludovica palmata   In the strictest sense this is not a true palm, but a palm-like plant with tall rounded leaves containing 3-5 segments. This plant does not have a trunk and the leaves grow out from the base.  Flowers will form that produce small red berries.  This plant makes the most perfect indoor tropical look for your home!

Sowing instructions:

  • Soak seed overnight.

  • Sow seed at 64-70°F in standard good draining potting mix.  

Plant Care:

  • Grow in a standard potting mix. 

  • Water  moderately and feed once a month.

  • Transplant when large enough to handle into pots. 

  • Keep humid if in dry conditions by occasional misting.

  • This tree is not fussy about soil type.

  • Zone 10 - 11 for standard growing outdoors otherwise grow as a beautiful greenhouse or house plant.
