Mango:
Project for Kids and Adults Alike
Pick up a Mango at the
grocery store.
Lay down newspaper and
carefully slice down one side so that the middle is left intact. Be prepared
for a mess. This is where the seed is. It is around 3 inches long and 1.5
inches wide. Pull the seed out and clean as mush of the flesh off of it as you
can. You won’t get it all so don’t worry. Be sure and plant right away and
don’t let the seed dry out.

the flesh.
Plant the seed in a
high quality soil mix in a 1 gallon container or larger.
In about two weeks a
sprout will emerge.

and emerging sprout.
Mango seedling 2 and a
half weeks from planting. Once it reaches this stage be careful not to disturb
the forming tap root.
After
only a month a tree is well on its way and 6" tall.
