Landscape Design

As we populate and repopulate, space is starting to become an issue, especially in urban areas. For those of us lucky enough to own a property with a garden in an urban area, we need to incorporate landscape design that offers us privacy from the many sets of eyes. This obviously starts with the outer-border of your garden.

Installing a fence around your perimeter needs to be carefully considered. Executed poorly and you could compromise the amount of sunshine that reaches your limited space. This is why you may need to consult or hire the services of a landscape design professional. Many people are administering a solution that may not initially appear obvious. Instead of increasing the height of your fence, lower your garden furniture instead. A low stone table and garden bench will give the appearance of a larger space and will also make you much more relaxed.

A pergola is a very attractive alternative to a higher fence and is a potential canvas for decoration. The plants you choose in your landscape design can give you natural privacy that will not feel as restrictive as a wooden fence. Incase you did not know, a pergola is a freestanding structure that goes overhead much like a terraced pavilion. This gives you privacy from eyes looking down at you and you can allow ivy to grow around the pergola, or if this is not for you, you can place hanging plants from it. Not only will this give you more privacy, it will also offer extra protection from the harsh UV rays of the sun.
