Betula pendula  European White Birch  A narrow tree with peeling white bark, much like that pictured, and grows creviced over time giving the tree an ancient look.  Likes colder weather. Often grown as a specimen plant at estates, golf courses and homes as well as ornamental use.   Because of the unique bark form this tree can be used in bonsai culture if given the required pruning.
