Angels Trumpet

Datura inoxia An old favorite with the soft feel of green-gray velvety leaves and beautiful, large white, trumpet-shaped flowers. Perfectly scented evening blooms will fill the air with sweetness! An exciting houseplant! Works well in pots or grow as an annual.   Item # rsd - 114  

Sowing instructions:

  • Soak in warm water for 24 hours

  • Sow seed 3/4” deep at a soil temperature of  61° F and keep moist

  • Sow in standard good draining potting mix

Plant Care:

  • Grow in a standard potting mix

  • Place in bright filtered light

  • Likes a deep, rich well fertilized soil

  • Keep moist and feed once a month

  • Transplant when large enough to handle into pots

  • Keep humid if in dry conditions by occasional misting

  • Do not let this plant experience temperatures below  35° F

  • Do not allow to remain in standing water

All parts of this plant are toxic if ingested.

  • The most common names of this plant are: raving nightshade, thorn apple, stinkweed, Devil's apple, Jimson weed and Angel's trumpet
  • Tests have shown that Datura seeds have a germination rate of 90% after being stored for 39 years 
  • The Aztecs also made use of Datura which they called "ololluhqui " or the magic plant
  • This is a fast growing plant
