   Cucumber Lemon  (slicing)

Heirloom!

  One of my  favorite cucumbers! A very productive heirloom variety of cucumber with a unique lemon color and baseball shape. Great flavor and crunchy texture with a non-bitter skin.  You get loads of 2-3" fruit from mid- summer to fall.  Terrific for pickling and slicing. Very easy to grow! Does well with short summer climates. This vine is also easy to grow in pots. Disease resistant and never bitter and easily digestible.  Item # ss - 20

Sowing instructions:   Sow outdoors in a well prepared seed bed after all danger of frost is past in a nice sunny spot. Sow 4 to 5 seeds per hill in rows 36 inches apart. Water well. Optimum soil temperature is 70+ degrees F.  If starting indoors, use individual peat pots to minimize root disturbance when transplanting and start them mid-April to early May. Transplant 3 weeks after seeding. 

Plant Care: For the biggest yields place plants in raised composted beds.  Water regularly.  Keep  picked and they’ll keep producing.

Growing Tips:

  • Keep plants well watered
  • If space is limited grow on a trellis or fence
  • Maximize production by harvesting fruits regularly
  • Seed can be sown indoors 3 weeks before last frost date
  • Sow outdoors after last frost and when soil temperature reaches at least 65°
