Music Tree

Crescentia alata  Take pleasure in growing this unique specimen tree with a short trunk and long, spreading branches and bright green leaves. Fragrant blooms occur anytime of the year right on the main trunk and larger limbs! Flowers are tinted yellow with a trace of purple and followed by hard shelled fruits. These fruits have traditionally been used to make the Latin American instrument Maraca. Prized by tropical plant growers! Because of its short trunk this tree would make a unique bonsai specimen!  Item # rsd - 45

Sowing instructions: Soak seed overnight. Nick the seeds outer coat for better germination rate. Sow seed at 60 -64 ° F in standard good draining potting mix with a little sand.

Plant Care: Grow in full light, water freely during growing season, sparingly in winter and feed once a month. Grow in a standard potting mix. Transplant when large enough to handle into pots. Prefers fertile, well-drained soils, but can survive on most soils.  Keep humid if in dry conditions by occasional misting. Cannot tolerate outdoor temperatures below 55 degrees. Zone 10-12 for standard growing outdoors.
