  Casuarina cunninghamiana  A beautiful plant with deeply fissured, dark brown bark and thick branches that grow low to the ground like a pine tree. Fine pine-like foliage grow in unique spirals making this tree a terrific specimen for bonsai culture!

  Sowing instructions: Soak seed overnight. Nick the seeds outer coat for better germination rate. Sow seed at 55-64 ° F in standard good draining potting mix with a little sand.

 

Plant Care: Grow in full light, water freely during growing season, sparingly in winter and feed once a month. Grow in a standard potting mix.   Transplant when large enough to handle into pots. Prefers fertile, well-drained soils, but can survive on most soils.  Keep humid if in dry conditions by occasional misting. Cannot tolerate outdoor temperatures below 55 degrees. Zone 9-11 for standard growing outdoors.

  • Fossil pollen has been found dating to the Paleocene and macrofossils in the Eocene and Miocene era
