Carica papaya

Baby Papaya   A small tree perfect for deck gardens and growing in pots. Creamy colored, trumpet shaped flowers are very aromatic and bloom most of the year followed by delicious fruit.  This tree is believed to have originated in Costa Rica.  Flowers must be hand pollinated if grown indoors.   • One of the easiest tropical plants to grow indoors

  • Produces fruit at an early age

  • Much regarded as a beautiful ornamental

  • Makes an excellent plant for collectors of plants for the home or greenhouse environment

Sowing instructions:

  • Soak seed in warm water for 24 hours.   

  • Sow seed 3/4” deep at a soil temperature of 64-70° F. and keep moist

  • Sow in standard good draining potting mix

Plant Care:

  • Grow in a standard potting mix

  • Water  moderately and feed once a month

  • Transplant when large enough to handle into pots

  •  Keep humid if in dry conditions by occasional misting

    Baby Papaya (carica sp.)  14 days from planting.

Baby papaya 20 days from germination.

Four months old.
