Camphor Tree

Cinnamomum camphora - An evergreen tropical native to China and Japan.  Widely cultivated for over 100 years. Glossy 4" leaves are aromatic and used as the source of Camphor.  Delicate sprays of light yellow flowers are followed by little berries.  Zone 8-10 for outdoor use - otherwise enjoy as a houseplant. Item # rsd-120  

Sowing instructions: Soak seed overnight. Nick the seeds outer coat for better germination rate. Sow seed at 55-64 ° F in standard good draining potting mix with a little sand.

 

Plant Care: Grow in full light, water freely during growing season, sparingly in winter and feed once a month. Grow in a standard potting mix.   Transplant when large enough to handle into pots. Prefers fertile, well-drained soils, but can survive on most soils.  Keep humid if in dry conditions by occasional misting. Cannot tolerate outdoor temperatures below 45 degrees. Zone 8 -10  for standard growing outdoors.
