Acer palmatum 'suminagashi'

Japanese Red Maple    

A  vigorous upright tree with deeply divided large red-purple leaves that turn crimson in the fall. The leaves have excellent color retention. This tree is perfect for use as a bonsai specimen, container growing, rock gardens, around water features. It is a very low maintenance plant. 'Suminagashi' matures as a small tree.

Sowing instructions:

  • Our seeds are ready to go

  • Soak in warm water for 24 hours

  • Sow seed 3/4” deep at a soil temperature of  55-64° F. and keep moist

  • Sow in standard good draining potting mix

Plant Care:

  • Grow in a moist but well-drained soil.

  • Place in bright filtered light  or partial shade

  • Likes a deep, rich well fertilized neutral to acidic soil

  • Keep moist, but well drained and feed once a month

  • Transplant when large enough to handle into pots

  •  Keep humid if in dry conditions by occasional misting

  • Do not allow to remain in standing water
